BGMC Season of Prayer Fall 2020

The Pastors and Elders are again inviting you to a time of prayer for our congregation.  This was done last year, and we received many positive affirmations.  Many people were surprised how easy and meaningful it was to pray with a small group of fellow church members.

We will do this by organizing any who want to commit to this season of prayer into 3 person prayer groups, with an eye to diversity with regard to families and ages.  You can choose to pray with a group of the same gender, or with a mix of genders.  We do recommend splitting up spouses, and keeping relatives in different groups.  Each team will commit to:

·         4 to 5 group prayer meetings for an hour of spoken prayer and listening to God, between October 4 and December 6.   Your group of 3 may choose your group’s place and time to meet.  In summary, this means your group commits to meet 4 to 5 times for in person socially distanced meetings (outdoors when possible, masks recommended), or on Zoom (using BGMC’s Zoom account) or FaceTime for at least an hour during the coming 9 weeks.

·         All interested in this prayer commitment should submit the below form by September 27. A group led by Denny Gross will be the coordinators for this season of prayer, and will put people into groups of 3 and inform them of their group members.   We strongly urge folks to be willing to be in a prayer group, but remind all that this is optional.

·         We’ll inform you of the groups by October 4.  We will send a periodic email to prayer groups to guide the ongoing group prayer times.  The prayer focus is three fold – intercede for BGMC, spend time listening for God’s spirit, and pray for the fruits of the Spirit to be manifested individually and congregationally (Galatians 5:22-23 – But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.)

·         As your team prays, you will also listen for God’s spirit speaking in your midst.  One group member will write down any nudges of the Spirit you sense in your prayer time and a group member will share this with Denny by email.

I am willing to commit to a season of regular small group prayer for Blooming Glen for Oct – Nov 2020.  Complete and submit this form by September 27, 2020.
